The Green Mountain State runs on nuclear energy: about 70% of the electricity generated within Vermont is from nuclear power plants. The state has only a paltry amount of installed solar PV capacity compared to many other states. However, Vermont set a voluntary goal of generating a quarter of electricity consumed in the state from renewable energy resources by 2017.
