The Land of 10,000 Lakes runs on coal, nuclear power, natural gas and wind turbines. Although the state ranks seventh in the nation in wind energy generation, the installed solar PV capacity is minimal. The good news is that the share of solar energy is set to increase. The state enacted a Renewable Portfolio Standard with targets in the range of 25-32% renewable energy by 2025 and there is a specific carve-out for solar power.
